Doctors Care Celebrates Newest Location in Indian Land With Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

By | Press | No Comments

Indian Land, S.C. – Doctors Care P.A., South Carolina’s largest urgent care company, held a ribbon cutting today to celebrate the opening of its newest urgent and family care center in Indian Land. The state-of-the-art medical facility is located on Charlotte Highway, and is part of the Cross Creek shopping center. Doctors Care selected Indian Land for its newest location because of the region’s unprecedented growth and increased need for convenient access to health care services, seven days a week. This is the second Doctors Care location in the area; Doctors Care Rock Hill opened in 2011.

According to Dr. Thomas Gibbons, president and chief medical officer of Doctors Care, the new location will enhance efforts to address the health care demands of the booming Piedmont region.

“For 36 years now, our medical professionals have been dedicated to providing quality care – that’s also convenient – to families and employers across South Carolina, and this newest Indian Land location is an example of our long-term commitment to these values and the communities we’ve always served,” Gibbons said. “We are excited to grow with the region as more families move to the area for the excellent schools and great quality of life.”

As part of the ribbon cutting ceremony, a one thousand dollar check was presented to Indian Land Middle School, which is located directly across from the new Doctors Care location. School principal Chris Thorpe was on hand to accept the check, and said the money will be used for the school’s incoming sixth grader transition program.

The new Doctors Care Indian Land location is more than 4,300 s/f, contains eight exam rooms plus trauma space, onsite laboratory and X-ray rooms, and spacious accommodations with modern finishes.

Services available at Doctors Care include:

  • Urgent care and minor surgical procedures (for sprains, fractures, lacerations, accident evaluation, burns, etc.)
  • Family care (such as physicals, X-rays, blood work and colds/strep/flu care)
  • Outdoor Exposure treatment (including IV fluids for dehydration, sunburn and insect bite care etc.)
  • Vaccinations (including tetanus, flu, pneumonia, hepatitis B, etc.)
  • Occupational health and workers’ compensation
  • Online check-in for any location, virtual visits at DoctorsCare.com/Anywhere

The Indian Land facility is located at 8384 Charlotte Highway, directly in front of the Publix Super Market at Cross Creek in Indian Land. Hours of operation are Sunday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Through Telemedicine, Doctors Care Reaches Patients in Every SC County

By | Press | No Comments

Columbia, SC – Doctors Care urgent care, founded in Columbia in 1981 as South Carolina’s first urgent care organization, has now seen patients in every county in the state with its telemedicine platform, Doctors Care Anywhere. Providers have completed nearly one-thousand visits with the online app, and nearly 6,000 visits using in-center telemedicine technology.

Doctors Care first launched its telehealth program in 2014, the same year it added online check-in to all of its walk-in clinics across the state. The Doctors Care Anywhere platform, rolled-out in early 2016, was built in-house using local developers. The app allows patients to connect with a Doctors Care physician using a smartphone, tablet or computer – providing an unparalleled level of convenience and access for patients, allowing them to see its providers from the comfort of their home or office. The Doctors Care Anywhere app is available to download for both Apple and Android devices.

“We’ve been a trusted brand in this state for 35 years, and we continue to build new urgent care locations to meet growing population demands,” said Dr. Thomas Gibbons, president of Doctors Care. “Our telemedicine platform was created to offer an additional way for patients to use our services – for those interested in this type of technology and convenience. Convenience is king, and we get it.”

Another priority of the Doctors Care leadership is bringing quality health care to underserved citizens located in rural areas around the state.

“We have many counties with little or no accessible health care available to much of their population,” said David Boucher, president of UCI Medical Affiliates, the non-medical management company of Doctors Care.

“Our goal was twofold: First, to add a new level of convenience for our existing, loyal patients. Second, to provide access to people who don’t have a good option nearby or who may be homebound. We believe all our citizens should have access to quality health care, and this is one way we can be a part of the solution.”

Since launching the telemedicine platform in early 2016, Doctors Care has served nearly one thousand patients, from all 46 counties in South Carolina. Physicians are able to treat a variety of non-complex illnesses, from colds and sinus infections to skin rashes and ear infections.

“Our telemedicine physicians are able to see, speak and interact with patients using highly secure connections to make diagnoses,” Gibbons said. “A major advantage we have over national telemedicine providers is we can refer complex or questionable cases to one of our 52 free-standing locations around the state. This is a continuum of care that differentiates Doctors Care from all of our primary care and urgent care competitors in South Carolina.”

Doctors Care Now Offers Low-Cost Hearing Exams, Hearing Aid Discounts

By | Press | No Comments

Columbia, S.C. – Doctors Care urgent care, the largest urgent care provider group in South Carolina, has partnered with TruHearing to begin offering low-cost hearing exams and name-brand hearing aids at significantly discounted prices. Five Doctors Care locations now offer these specialized audiology consultations by state-accredited hearing instrument specialists and audiologists.

“As a company that’s been around for 35 years now, it’s always exciting when we have the opportunity to expand our services to the families we already care for,” said David Boucher, president and COO of UCI Medical Affiliates, the nonmedical management company for Doctors Care. “And our location coverage in South Carolina makes us the most convenient provider for hearing aid service and maintenance. Our patients will always have close access to the care they need no matter where they are in the state.”

The Doctors Care hearing aid program uses a fixed-price model for its devices, which is uncommon in the industry and guarantees consistent and fair prices for patients. Through the TruHearing network, Doctors Care patients can expect to save an average of $1,780 per pair of hearing aids, compared to the national retail average. Prices for many models are listed on the Doctors Care website.

For patients with hearing loss, the right hearing aids can greatly enhance their quality of life, said Elisha Dominick, hearing program director for Doctors Care.

“We know that nearly 25 percent of Americans aged 65 to 74 ‑ and 50 percent of those who are 75 and older ‑ have disabling hearing loss, Dominick said. “Our affordable, high-quality devices can equip you to confidently and fully engage with co-workers, friends and family again. That’s the most satisfying part of what we do here.”

Through the TruHearing network, Doctors Care sells hundreds of models from the leading hearing aid manufacturers. Even its standard-level models are rated higher than typical entry-level hearing aids from other providers, while the discounted pricing helps to keep these top-rated devices affordable.

“Ultimately, our goal is to always provide the most convenient, high-quality care for generations of families,” added Boucher. “And at the end of the day, we want to make sure the families we serve are able to live their healthiest and happiest lives.”

Doctors Care has plans to expand its program to more locations later this year. Please visit DoctorsCare.com/Hearing to learn more.

Lexington, S.C. – Doctors Care held ribbon cutting celebrations today to mark the openings of three state-of-the-art facilities to serve the growing Lexington County area:

  • Doctors Care Lexington West, 815 HWY 378 West, located in front of the Publix at Hendrix Crossing
  • Progressive Physical Therapy, a Doctors Care sister company, is also located at the Hendrix Crossing site
  • Doctors Care Hope Ferry, 5224 Sunset Boulevard, located next to Walgreens on Sunset Boulevard at Hope Ferry Road

Doctors Care is South Carolina’s largest urgent care company and one of the largest in the United States. Dr. Thomas Gibbons, president and chief medical officer for Doctors Care, said the new locations will create better access to health care in the booming Lexington region and help meet the evolving needs of its residents.

Thirty-five years ago this company opened its very first urgent care location not far from here – so it’s extremely rewarding to know we’re still growing with the Lexington community, and we’re still serving generations of the same families,” Gibbons said at the Lexington West location. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our 35th year in business.

David Boucher, president and chief operating officer of UCI Medical Affiliates, the non-medical management company for both Doctors Care and Progressive Physical Therapy, also spoke at a joint ceremony for Doctors Care Lexington West and Progressive Physical Therapy.

The success of our companies is a reflection of the success of Lexington County and the state of South Carolina – where smart people work hard, continue to innovate, and appreciate their neighbors. It’s an honor to be a part of what’s working,” Boucher said.

Underlining the company’s commitment to the region, staff members of the two companies presented a $500 gift to the Lexington School District One Education Foundation – with the assistance of Blowie, the mascot of the Lexington County Blowfish Baseball Club. Mike Stacey, director of human resources for the District, was on hand to accept the check. The District has partnered with the Blowfish for a school supplies drive later this spring, and the contribution will go towards those efforts and more.

Doctors Care Lexington West encompasses 6,500 square feet. The Hope Ferry Road Doctors Care is more than 4,000 square feet. Both contain multiple exam rooms plus trauma, laboratory and X-ray rooms. In addition to the latest in medical equipment, the facilities enable patients to use online check-in. They receive text messages when it’s time to appear in person. There are now 54 Doctors Care clinics in South Carolina and one in Tennessee.

Progressive Physical Therapy, with 24 facilities in South Carolina, offers specialized treatment with certified physical therapists to help with injury recovery, rehabilitation and pain relief.

About Doctors Care: Doctors Care P.A., founded in 1981, was the first minor emergency medical center in Columbia, S.C. Today, Doctors Care is a premier health care organization operating 54 clinics in South Carolina and one in Tennessee, proudly focused on delivering exceptional urgent care, family care, and occupational health care. Most locations are open evenings and weekends, do not require an appointment, and offer online check-in for added convenience.
